There will be no school for the Estill County School System for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, due to hazardous road conditions. This will be a traditional snow day.

As you are aware, when the district has inclement weather, even though the main roads are clear, we have several county roads that remain impassable for buses. We are taking steps to resolve this and get our students back in school. Please review the link below for the district Snow Route Plan. If the district calls for a snow route plan, these are the roads and their respective meeting locations. Please review and make note of your meeting location for drop off and pick up. NOTICE OF VACANT ESTILL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION SEAT The ESTILL COUNTY Board of Education ("Board") is seeking applications for appointment to fill a vacancy on the Board representing seat District #5. Responsibilities include setting policies to govern the district, hiring/evaluating the Superintendent, levying taxes, and adopting the District budget. Board members must: • Be at least 24 years old and a Kentucky citizen for the last three years; • Be a registered voter in the particular District of the vacancy; • Have completed the 12th grade or have a GED certificate; • Meet all other legal qualifications (KRS 160.180); and • Complete required annual in-service training. Estill County School menus are now updated daily online. Please visit the District Website, click on "Schools" on the right hand side and choose a school. Once on the school's page click "Menu" then choose the "Dining" button. There will be no school for the Estill County School District for Friday, January 24th, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day. This is due to certain roads still being unsafe for buses. The extremely cold temperatures are hindering the effort to get roads cleared, and salt becomes ineffective at 15 degrees or lower. We are hoping the the increasing temperatures this weekend will help get the roads cleared. As always, the safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.

There will be no school for the Estill County School District for Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day. This is due to certain roads still being unsafe for buses. The extremely cold temperatures are hindering the effort to get roads cleared, and salt becomes ineffective at 15 degrees or lower. As always, the safety of our staff and students is our number one priority.

There will be no school for the Estill County School District for Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025. This will be NTI day #10 for students and staff. We still have some roads and bus turnarounds that are still covered in ice, such as Hwy 204, Marcum Rd, Lynch Rd, Jake's Heavenly Hwy, etc. The state, county, and our school personnel are continuing to work on these roads and turnarounds. Unfortunately the extremely cold temperatures is not helping. Our students and staff's safety are our main concern.

There will be no school in the Estill County School District for Tuesday, January 21, 2025. This will be a traditional snow day. The recent snow resulted in roads that are still very slick and hazardous for buses (Wagers Mt., Marble Yd, Flinchum Ridge, etc.). Please be safe.

Estill County Schools will be offering meals to our students for NTI day #9--Friday, January 17th from 11:00am-12:30pm. Your meal pick-up site will be based on the student's address. Students who live on the courthouse side of the river will pick up meals at Estill Springs in the back drive through loop. Students who live on the Save-a-Lot side will pick up meals at West Irvine in their front drive through loop. There will be no school for the Estill County School District for Friday, January 17th, 2025. This will be NTI day #9 for students and staff. We still have some roads and bus turnaround that are still covered in ice, such as Flinchum Ridge, Betsy Ridge, Lynch Road, Marcum Road, etc. The state, county, and our school personnel are continuing to work on these roads and turnarounds. Our students and staff's safety are our main concern. We're hoping with warmer temps this weekend we can return to school on Tuesday.

Due to hazardous road conditions, there will be no school tomorrow for Estill County Schools, for Thursday, January 16th, 2025. Tomorrow will be NTI day #8 for staff and students. Several roads in the county are still too dangerous for busses to travel. There are also several bus turnarounds covered in ice. Roads still in hazardous conditions include Flinchum Ridge, Webb Rd, Marcum Rd, 2004, Lynch Road, Rosemont, and several others. The state, county, and our school personnel have worked daily on these roads and turnarounds. Our students and staff's safety are our main concern, and we will continue to work to return to school when it is safe

Estill County Students: Come out and see your Estill County Food Service staff at Estill Springs or West Irvine and pick up a meal. We’ll be serving until 12:30.
